For me, fishing has never been just about catching fish. It’s about the outdoors, the adventure, the anticipation of what’s around the next point or beyond the horizon, and the peace that comes from being on the water.

I grew up in Portland, Oregon, in a family that owned and operated a fishing tackle shop for over 40 years. Fishing wasn’t just something we did on weekends-it was part of everyday life. I started guiding on rivers at 17, spent long summers fishing my way through college, and eventually found my way to Southern California, where the Pacific Ocean opened up an entirely new world of possibilities.

Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to fish incredible places, learn from talented anglers, and spend countless hours figuring out what makes fish bite. That experience has shaped the way I approach fishing today: methodical, prepared, patient, and always curious. I take the fishing seriously, but I don’t take myself too seriously.

No ego, no pressure, and no need to prove anything. Just good fishing, good company, and an appreciation for being out there.

Sometimes the Best Therapy Is a Day Offshore

Life in Southern California moves fast. Between demanding jobs, busy schedules, family responsibilities, and the constant noise of everyday life, it’s easy to forget how important it is to step away.

For me, the ocean has always been the place to recharge.

There’s something about leaving the harbor behind, breathing in the salt air, watching the coastline disappear, and settling into the rhythm of the ocean. The phone gets quieter, the stress starts to fade, and suddenly the only thing that matters is what’s happening right in front of you.

Add the excitement of offshore fishing: the search, the anticipation, the unexpected encounters, and the possibility of hooking into something extraordinary, and you have an experience that’s hard to find anywhere else.

It’s adventure, relaxation, and a little saltwater therapy all rolled into one.

And sometimes, that’s exactly what you need after a long stretch of hard work.

That’s why I started Current Fishing.

I wanted to create a private fishing experience where people can simply show up, step aboard, and enjoy everything the ocean has to offer.

You don’t need to own expensive fishing equipment, study fishing reports, figure out where the fish are, or worry about planning the day. I’ve spent a lifetime doing that, and I genuinely enjoy it.

Whether you’re an experienced angler chasing offshore gamefish, a group of friends looking for an adventure, or someone who simply needs a day away from the grind, my goal is the same: make the experience easy, comfortable, memorable, and fun.

I’ll take care of the boat, the equipment, the planning, and the fishing strategy. You bring your friends, your curiosity, and a willingness to enjoy the day.

Some trips are about the fish. Others are about the laughs, the conversations, the wildlife, and the memories made along the way. The best trips usually have a little of everything.

One of the things I enjoy most about guiding is connecting with people who share a love for the outdoors, fishing, and adventure.

I enjoy teaching someone who’s never caught a fish just as much as exchanging ideas with an experienced angler. There’s always something to learn, another technique to try, or another story worth sharing.

My approach is laid-back but professional. I believe in being prepared, paying attention to the details, fishing hard when the opportunity presents itself, and never forgetting that we’re out there to have a good time.

At the end of the day, success isn’t measured only by what’s in the fish box. It’s measured by the experience, the friendships, and whether you step off the boat feeling a little more alive and a lot more relaxed than when you stepped aboard.
